In 2015, Go With Courage created the We’ve Got Your Back family support program. This long-awaited and critically important program was designed to support families while a parent or child is in cancer treatment by helping with meals, childcare, homework, tutoring, recreation, transportation and house care in any effort to lighten the load and ease the heart-wrenching burden on the patient and his/her loved ones. If you can imagine the need, this program is aiming to meet it. In worst case scenarios, we have even helped arrange memorial details.
The program is being run from the Go With Courage home office in order to save overhead costs and to allow its founder, Robyn Jaslow, to oversee and allocate funds in accordance with its mission and with the many and varied requests made by families, which come in all shapes and sizes and from all regions.
During the COVID-19 crisis, We’ve Got Your Back was able to deliver hot meals, provide meal cards, arts and crafts, tutoring and guidance to children and families affected by cancer. Remarkably, Bradley Friedman, a dear friend to Go With Courage, ran outdoor “masked” games and activities for groups of young children all throughout the Pandemic. In furtherance of its history, We’ve Go Your Back also supported the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center by making a donation to its food bank.
In addition and with the generous support of Jill Scherer. Ltd., in the Village of Roslyn, We’ve Got Your Back has created a signature gift package that is mailed to patients during treatment. The baskets are tailored to the patient’s needs including, but not limited to, front-opening garments to support women who have undergone surgery and other items simply to let the patient know that we are here to help. The following card is included in all gift baskets sent from Go With Courage/We’ve Got Your Back.
